刘德华英文简介

Andy Lao is my favourite singer. He was known as one of the Cantopop Four Heavenly King in Hong Kong since early 1990s. His first album entitled “Only Know That I Still Love You“ but the one that makes his singing carer reached stellar status and then bring him his first RTHK Top 10 Gold Song Awards in 1990 was “Would it be possible“. Since then, he would win at least one RTHK Awards Category every year till year of 2007. He also has won the “Most Popular Hong Kong Male Artist“ and the “Asia Most Popular Hong Kong Male Artist“ from Jade Solid Gold Top 10 Awards for each about 7 and 15 times. As a result, he was also entered into the Guinness World Records for the “Most Awards Won by a Cantopop Male Artist“.
Most of his song was in Cantonese or Mandarin, but he also sang in other languages like English, Japanese, Malay and Hokkien(Taiwanese). Many of his songs quickly topped the music charts, not only Hong Kong, but also in Taiwan, China and many different parts of Asia. I still remember his notable hits such as “The Day We Spent Together“, “The Tide“, “Forget Love Potion“, “Chinese People“, “Love You Ten Thousand Year“, “You Are My Women“ and also one of his famous Hokkien song “Best In The World“. By listen to his song, I feel happy and energetic.
Beside as a singer, he was also involved in dramatic acting, film acting and also film producer. Andy Lau was also very active in charity works. He established Andy Lau Charity Foundation which helps people in need and promotes a wide range of youth education services. He involved in many charity campaign, for example he took a main role in the “Artistes 512 Fund Raising Campaign“ for donation relief towards the victim of the Sichuan earthquake in 2008. He was awarded the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Of The World in 1999.

With over 20 years’ experience dedicating to the entertainment industry, Andy Lau, an accomplished actor and singer, has starred in more than 100 films. He started his career in 1981 when recruited by Television Broadcasts Limited(TVB). The continuous and extensive exposure to cameras has assisted him in expertising his acting skills, which in return has earned him a high reputation throughout Asia.
Major Achievement in Film
Andy’s endeavors in and enthusiasm for acting were recognized when he was nominated for the Best New Artist in the Hong Kong Film Awards in 1982. In 2000 & 2001, he was honored the Best Actor in the Hong Kong Film Awards & The Golden Bauhinia Awards. This has helped solidifying his place in the industry. In 2003 his deeply touching performance in “Infernal Affairs III” gave him his first Golden Horse Best Actor Award. In 2006, Andy was named “Asian Filmmaker of the Year” at the Pusan International Film Festival for his contributions in the film industry and efforts in promoting new Asian film talents. In 2007, Andy was honored the “Nielsen Box Office Star” of the Asian Film Awards organized by the 31st Hong Kong International Film Festival.
With a view to fully utilizing his talents both in front of and behind the camera, Andy found Teamwork Motion Pictures Limited in 1991. With the intent to boost the Hong Kong film industry and granting new filmmakers opportunities to go into the industry, the Company has successfully produced movies which have been widely acclaimed in both the local and international domains.
In 1997, the Company produced the film “Made in Hong Kong”. With the accomplishment of receiving over 50 awards at festivals all over the world, Andy and the Company have taken a big leap in their cinematic career. In 2002, Andy found another Focus Films Limited , and , in 2004, co-invested in the blockbuster “A World Without Thieves” directed by Mr Feng Xiao Gang and “Jiang Hu” directed by prominent young director Wong Ching Po . Moreover, the company launched “Focus First Cuts” project in 2005 for Asia market.
Major Achievement in Music
Aside from his film career, Andy has made a phenomenal impact on Asia’s music scene. Since his debut album in 1985, he has recorded and released various albums in Hong Kong, Taiwan and a host of other countries in Asia. He has won numerous music awards and also filled the stadiums with over 200 concert shows around the world.

In 1994, Andy established the “Andy Lau Charity Foundation“ which is focused on supporting people in need and to promote a wide range of youth education services. He was previously nominated for various awards for his roles in As Tears Go By (1988) and Full Throttle (1995), but it wasn’t until 1999 that Lau finally got the recognition he so craved. He was awarded with a Best Actor Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards for his performance in Johnnie To’s Running Out of Time. In 2003, Lau won the award a second time, for his physically and emotionally demanding role as “Biggie”, a monk cursed with the ability to see the karmic fates of those around him, in Johnnie To’s Running on Karma (2003). In 2002, the Golden Horse Best Actor Award eluded Lau by the slimmest of margins (he lost by one vote to his IA co-star Tony Leung) for Infernal Affairs (2002), but the second time proved to be the charm and Lau was finally able to add the Golden Horse to his ginormous collection of awards when he won for his reprisal of the duplicitious triad mole Lau Kin-Ming in Infernal Affairs 3 (2003).
　　In recent years, Lau has also tried his hand at business, and started his own production company named Teamwork. Among the films produced by Teamwork have been the critically-acclaimed features Made in Hong Kong (1997) and The Longest Summer (1998), both directed by Fruit Chan.
